Computer vision syndrome
CVS or computer vision syndrome as it is commonly called is a kind of a disease related to and caused by excessive work on computer.
According to estimates around 75% people working on a computer are affected by it in some degree. Some of the symptoms are:
1) Tired, sore or burning eyes
2) Eyestrain
3) Regular blurred near and distance vision
4) Headaches
5) Dry eyes
6) Slowness in changing the focus of your eyes
7) Contact lens discomfort
Here are some measures that can be adopted by you to reduce the effect of Computer Vision Syndrome.
1. Reposition your monitor to avoid awkward head or eye movements.
2. The center of the computer screen should be a few inches below the eye.
3. Adjust the brightness and contrast of your screen and select a larger text size.
4. LCD displays have less visual disadvantages compared to cathode ray tube (CRT) displays. So you may want to consider and upgrade.
5. Always take a 10 min. break after every 1 hour and blink frequently. CVS can cause tear evaporation to occur at a increased rate
6. You should prefer wearing glasses during working on the computer as contact lens themselves cause dryness.
